The cast and crew of Freedom, an upcoming Tamil thriller drama based on a real incident from the 1990s, gathered for a grand press meet in Chennai ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on July 10.
Produced by Pandian Parasuraman under the Vijay Ganapathy Pictures banner, the film is directed by Kazhugu fame Sathyasiva. Actor Sasikumar plays the lead role, with Jai Bhim fame Lijomol Jose as the female lead.
Speaking at the event, actor Manikandan emotionally said, âAfter all our struggles, Freedom coming to theatres feels like freedom for us.â His words summed up the teamâs emotional investment in the film.
The story revolves around injustice, resilience, and the human spirit, with Sasikumar appearing in a powerful and intense role. Lijomol, playing a Sri Lankan Tamil woman, thanked the team for guiding her through the language and emotional challenges of the role.
Director Sathyasiva and composer Ghibran were lauded for their contributions. The team praised producer Pandian for his sincerity and courage in backing a socially relevant film. Many, including art director Udhayakumar, shared how personally meaningful the project was to them.
The film also features Sudhev Nair as the antagonist, alongside Malavika (KGF), Bose Venkat, Ramesh Khanna, and more. Ghibran has scored the music, while NS Udhayakumar handled cinematography and Srikanth NB managed editing.
Freedom is set to release in theatres worldwide on July 10, promising a gripping, emotional story based on true events.
