Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India in early December for an annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The official date has not been confirmed, but reports suggest the visit may take place around December 5.Ahead of Putinās trip, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will come to India to finalize details of the meeting.
The summit will focus on strengthening the India-Russia strategic partnership. Key areas of discussion are likely to include defence, security, trade, energy cooperation, and the global situation, including the war in Ukraine.
The leaders are also expected to review progress under the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Technical Cooperation. India may consider purchasing additional S-400 air defence missile systems from Russia, of which three have already been delivered out of five ordered.
This will be Putinās first visit to India since 2021.
