The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Tamil actors K Srikanth and Krishna Kumar for questioning in a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged cocaine trafficking case.
Srikanth is scheduled to appear before the ED on October 27, while Krishna Kumar has been asked to appear on October 28.
Their statements will be recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This probe originates from a case filed by Chennai Police in June, related to cocaine trafficking. Both actors were arrested earlier in the year along with other individuals and were granted conditional bail by the Madras High Court in July.
The police also apprehended a former AIADMK functionary, T Prasad, who allegedly supplied cocaine to Srikanth and others. The actors were initially charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for procuring cocaine for personal use, with no drugs seized directly from them.
The EDās investigation aims to uncover the alleged laundering of proceeds derived from the cocaine trafficking network linked to the accused. This case has attracted significant media attention due to the involvement of prominent Tamil film personalities and continues to unfold as the federal agency pursues its inquiry.
