Senior Congress executive Praveen Chakravarthy declared that the “whistle has been blown” for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, signaling the formal start of the campaign season in the state.
The comment follows the Election Commission of India’s allotment of the “whistle” election symbol to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the political party led by actor-politician Vijay, for the upcoming polls. The decision gives TVK a uniform identity across all Assembly constituencies as it gears up for its first electoral contest.
Chakravarthy posted on social media platform X: “The TN 2026 election ‘whistle’ is blown! All parties are now Ready Set Go :)”, reflecting rising political energy among parties and supporters ahead of the April–May polls.
The symbol’s allocation has sparked discussions in political circles, as new and established parties prepare to contest in what is shaping up to be a highly watched election in Tamil Nadu.
