Gold prices in Tamil Nadu surged sharply on Sunday, surprising buyers and investors. The price of 22‑carat gold rose by ₹180 per gram, bringing it to around ₹14,860 per gram. The cost of one sovereign, roughly eight grams, increased by ₹1,440, reaching close to ₹1,18,880.
Silver also saw a modest increase, with the price per gram rising by about ₹10 and one kilogram of bullion touching ₹3,00,000. Market analysts attribute the rise to strong domestic demand and sustained investor interest in precious metals.
Over the past week, gold has maintained an upward trend, reflecting bullish sentiment in the market. The surge comes amid growing concerns over global economic trends, prompting investors to turn to gold as a safe-haven asset.
