Union Minister Piyush Goyal has assured that India is not facing any shortage of petrol or other fuels, even as concerns rise over global energy disruptions caused by tensions in West Asia.
Speaking to reporters in Tiruchirappalli, Goyal said the Central government is closely monitoring the situation and taking steps to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability across the country.
“There is absolutely no shortage of fuel. The government departments are monitoring the situation very closely,” he said, referring to uncertainties in global energy supply caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The Union government has also taken steps to stabilise the energy market, including directing refineries to maximise LPG production and prioritising gas supply for domestic consumers, while other sectors receive calibrated allocations.
During his interaction, Goyal also launched a sharp attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government in Tamil Nadu, alleging corruption and poor governance. He expressed confidence that the NDA alliance led by the BJP and AIADMK would defeat the DMK in the upcoming Assembly elections.
He said discussions on seat-sharing within the NDA alliance are ongoing and would be finalised amicably among partners. Goyal added that the alliance aims to form the next government in Tamil Nadu under the leadership of Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
The minister also claimed that the people of Tamil Nadu are looking for political change and said the NDA is preparing to challenge the DMK-led government in the upcoming polls.
