London, March 12: Three brothers from Sheffield have been convicted of multiple sexual offences against four children and a woman in northern England following an investigation by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA). Amar Ilyas, 41, known to victims as “Killer,” along with his brothers Kamar, 39, and Kamran, 38, were found guilty of rapes and other serious abuse committed nearly two decades ago. The case was uncovered through Operation Stovewood, a major probe into non-familial child sexual abuse in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013. Amar Ilyas fled to Pakistan while on bail and was tried in absentia; a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Prosecutors said the brothers groomed vulnerable girls with alcohol and drugs and subjected them to years of abuse, causing lasting harm. Kamran and Kamar remain in custody and will be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on June 22. Operation Stovewood has so far secured 52 convictions.
