Chennai, June 10:

Indian Institute of Technology Madras will showcase cutting-edge innovations, deep-tech startups and research initiatives at ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’, to be held in Nice, France, from June 14 to 16.

The event, an initiative of the Union Ministry of Education, aims to present India’s most promising technology ventures from higher education and centrally funded institutions to a global audience of investors, policymakers, industry leaders and research bodies.

IIT-M will lead two of the 13 thematic areas and showcase 15 incubated startups. Its pavilion will highlight key research in Hyperloop technology, lab-grown diamonds, 5G and 6G communications, port automation and a low-compute indigenous AI ecosystem.

Director Prof. V. Kamakoti said the India–France Year of Innovation 2026 would open new avenues for collaboration in areas such as 6G research, shared testbeds, startup partnerships and talent exchange. Prof. Manu Santhanam noted that the platform would strengthen India’s global leadership in deep-tech and research-driven entrepreneurship.

The institute’s focus areas include Blue Economy and next-generation communications. IIT-M said the shift from 5G to 6G would enable ultra-low latency systems, intelligent automation and distributed AI, with India’s large data ecosystem offering a strong advantage.

Startups such as REIO Systems, Astrome Technologies and WiSig Networks will showcase indigenous telecom solutions, while firms like Planys Technologies and Zerocircle highlight innovations in maritime infrastructure and sustainable materials.

IIT-M will also present advancements in Hyperloop systems through TuTr Hyperloop, along with research from the Indian Centre for Lab-Grown Diamonds, including laser-based marking technologies for authentication and traceability.

In addition, the institute will display its work in telecom technologies and smart port automation systems, supporting national initiatives such as Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
