Chennai, Aug 17:

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Sunday strongly condemned the alleged shooting of three Tamils by Karnataka forest officials in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary area of Chamarajanagar district on August 15.

The Chief Minister said the explanation offered by the Karnataka Forest Department was unacceptable and demanded a fair and transparent investigation into the incident.

Vijay called for the formation of a high-level inquiry committee and appropriate punishment for those found responsible. He also urged the Karnataka government to provide all necessary assistance to the families of the deceased and take steps to prevent such incidents from recurring.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Police have registered a murder case against seven forest department personnel based on a complaint filed by the wife of one of the deceased.
