Chennai, Aug 20:
The Tamil Nadu government will establish a 400-bed multi-specialty government hospital in Perambur at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore, bringing advanced medical care closer to residents of North Chennai.
The proposed facility will be aimed at reducing the distance patients from North Chennai have to travel for specialised treatment. The hospital will also form part of the government’s efforts to address healthcare infrastructure gaps in densely populated urban areas.
Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital, which currently provides tertiary-care services in North Chennai, often faces a heavy patient load. Patients requiring specialised treatment are frequently referred to the Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital at Omandurar and the Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital in Guindy.
The new hospital in Perambur is expected to ease the pressure on existing government hospitals while improving access to multi-specialty and advanced medical services for people in North Chennai.
