Iran is preparing a broader military response in case the United States resumes large-scale attacks, even as Tehran continues diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing another major escalation in the region.
Iranian officials and sources familiar with military planning told Reuters that commanders are discussing possible targets, geography and the timing of any retaliation. Tehran is also considering a seven-day diplomatic proposal, although Iranian officials privately remain doubtful that a deal with Washington can be reached.
The preparations come amid continuing uncertainty over the future of the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel. Iran has been weighing how to respond to the possibility of renewed US military action while attempting to avoid a wider confrontation.
