Chennai,  Oct 26:

A cyclonic storm is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on Monday and has been named Arnab. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rainfall in 16 districts of Tamil Nadu as the northeast monsoon remains active across the State.
The weather system, which developed over the central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, has intensified into a deep depression and is expected to strengthen further into a cyclonic storm. It is likely to move northwestwards towards the north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts over the next two days.
The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds, at isolated places in Pudukkottai, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram districts. Heavy rain is also likely in Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Karur, Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts.
The public has been advised to remain alert and follow official weather updates as the system intensifies. With rainfall continuing across several parts of Tamil Nadu, authorities are monitoring the situation and its potential impact on vulnerable areas.
