Chennai, Nov 7:
Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin on Saturday lashed out at the TVK government’s decision to dissolve the high-level committee on Centre-State relations, accusing the ruling dispensation of compromising state autonomy.
Reacting sharply on social media platform X, Stalin posted: “State Rights ā Theatre Rights ā ”, taking a direct swipe at Chief Minister Vijay and alleging that the administration prioritizes cinema theater interests over vital federal protections and constitutional rights.
The dissolved committee, headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Kurian Joseph along with K. Ashok Vardhan Shetty and M. Naganathan, was constituted during the DMK regime in April 2025 to study federal mechanisms and submit recommendations on safeguarding state autonomy.
Criticizing the government for assigning its mandate to the State Law Commission, DMK leaders asserted that dismantling an expert federal review body weakens Tamil Nadu’s historic stance on state autonomy.
