There could be little doubt that the UP Governor Romesh Bhandari nurtured his own personal agenda. It would be naive to think that the present imbroglio that has rendered yet another government defunct in that state took the incumbent of the Raj Bhavan too by surprise.

To all of us creatures on this cursed planet earth, the advent of the 21st century appears imminent, come what mays. But then, our politicians would like us to believe that,

It is an Indian tradition to respect elders. That an octogenarian, who has been active in public life for a good part of the century deserves to be honoured needs no elaboration. But then, it also happens to be an Indian tradition to overdo things a bit.

The whole of India and that includes the Congressmen, is agreed on one thing and that is the absolute irrelevance of a doddering old man called Sitaram Kesri, who would easily qualify as the most criticised and most caricatured leader(?) in recent times.

The DMK must now be thanking its Star. They may not believe in the Almighty but certainly have a lot of faith in ‘Arunachalam’. The faithfuls now have reason to celebrate. With his typical swish of the hand the super Actor has dismissed any suggestion of againsts the DMK regime for its ‘very minors negligence of allowing the extremists to accumulate bombs and weapons which has now caused the death of ‘just’ fifty innocent people.

The apathy and lethargy is unmistakable. The voters of India are to day a very tired lot. And an indifferent lot too. With the great democratic exercise becoming a routine affair the people cannot really be blamed for their fatigue.

A couple of days back I had said that two words of courtesy, Please and Thanks, do not exist in the politicians lexicon. But then, we also have to give credit where it is due,

My five-year-old daughter’s class-mate came calling on her a few days back. The duo had planned to do their homework together. But the friend had forgot to bring her pencil.

Who said there is an absence of any wave in this election? The poll pundits? Well, don’t believe them. Nothing can be farther from the truth, if one were to believe one’s eyes.
