Chennai: A dejected class 12 student who failed in the board exams committed suicide by hanging himself Friday.
Sai Prasanna (17), a resident of Poonamallee studied in a private school. Police said Prasanna was alone in his house when the results were declared.
He failed in three subjects. When his parents returned home in the evening, they found him hanging from the ceiling.
Police have sent his body for post-mortem to Omandur Government hospital. The government has set up a special helpline number 104 for students who feel the need to talk about their problems, exam results and pressure and authorities are advising students to not resort to suicide.
