Chennai: Based on the life of the Keedhaari descent people, Thorati is all set to release soon. Bankrolled by Shaman Pictures, the movie would discuss some real incidents happened in and around Ramanathapuram district in 1980.
The music album of the movie was released recently in Chennai during which the producer and the actor of the film Shama Mithru said, “I did not have confidence until half of the movie’s shoot was done. Only after that I even revealed that I play part in a movie to my father.” He said Thorati would be a nostalgic experience for southern district people who miss their childhood days while for others it will show what they missed.
Speaking about the movie, the director Marimuthu said, “It is not a documentary, it is a pucca commercial story but shot in a realistic manner.” Having done due research into the subject, the director says, “Thorati is the long stick with a hook attached to its end which is used to pluck leaves from high tree trunks for feeding their herd. If needed, these people use them as weapons as well. And thereās a superstitious belief and unbelievable traditions behind Thorati. How a malicious group enters this simple peopleās lives to create chaos forms the rest.”
The movie has already been screened in many international film festivals. Renowned producer CV Kumar’s Tirukumaran Entertainment has bought the distribution rights of the film.
