Chennai: Southern Railway will run a number of special fare, special trains from Chennai to Velankanni for the famous Velankanni festival. According to a press release, the trains are:
Velankanni – Tambaram
Train No. 06086 Velankanni – Tambaram will leave Velankanni 11.45 pm on 5 September and reach Tambaram at 10 am the next day. The composition for this train is one AC 2-tier, two AC 3-tier, 12 sleeper class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches. Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuturai, Sirkazhi, Chidambaram, Tiruppadirippuliyur, Villupuram, Tindivanam and Chengalpattu are the stoppages.
Tambaram -Ā Velankanni
Train No. 06087 Tambaram Ā- Velankanni will leave Tambaram at 7 pm on 29 and 31 August and reach Velankanni 3.10 am the next day. Train No. 06088 Velankanni Ā Tambaram train will leave Velankanni 11.45 pm on 1 and 6 September and reach Tambaram 10 am the next day. The composition of the train is two AC 3-tier and 12 sleeper class coaches. Chengalpattu, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Tiruppadirippuliyur, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladuturai, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam are the stoppages for these trains.
Chennai Central -Ā Velankanni
Train No. 06089 Chennai Central -Ā Velankanni will leave Chennai Central 3.30 pm 30 August and 6 September and reach Velankanni 3.10 am the next day. Train No. 06090 Velankanni -Ā Chennai Central will leave Velankanni 11.45 pm 31 August and 7 September and reach Chennai Central 11.15 am the next day. The composition of these trains is one air-conditioned first class-cum-AC 2-tier, three AC 2-tier, three AC 3-tier, 12 sleeper class, two general second class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches. Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Tiruppadirippuliyur, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam are the stoppages for these trains.
Nagercoil Ā- Velankanni
Train No. 06093 Nagercoil -Ā Velankanni will leave Nagercoil 5 pm on 2 September and reach Velankanni at 4.15 pm the next day. Train No. 06094 Velankanni Ā Nagercoil will leave Velankanni 11.45 pm 3 September and reach Nagercoil 11.05 am the next day. Composition for these trains is one AC 2-tier, three AC 3-tier, 13 sleeper class, three general second class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches. Valliyur, Tirunelveli, Kovilpatti, Sattur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam are the stoppages for these trains.
The release further stated that advance reservations for these trains have commenced from 8 am today.
