The waiting halls in particular will have potted plants to make them look like private hospitals. TVs and FM radio facilities will be available at these places, sources said.

An official from the Health Department said the State government was focusing on eradicating tuberculosis by 2025 and with efforts made by doctors and staff, he said they can achieve it before the deadline.

There is an eradication programme for TB and identification, medication and follow-up. NGOs and doctors from private hospitals have been enrolled in the programme and the role of field workers is important in the process.

The pharmacists have been told not to sell medicines without prescription and asked them to inform Health Department officials if anyone asks for TB medicines, the official said.
