DMK seeks Bharat Ratna for Karunanidhi

Chennai: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) today demanded Bharat Ratna for its patriarch M Karunanidhi, who died on Tuesday.

The party’s MP Tiruchi N Siva while addressing at the Monsoon Session at Rajya Sabha stressed upon the demand.

Apart from being a political leader and a five-time Chief Minister, Karunanidhi was also an eminent writer and film personality.

He has worked on various literary works, including Kuraloviyam and Tholkappiya Poonga.

Also, he has played a very crucial part in making up scripts of more than 75 movies.

In that row, Siva highlighted his achievements at the Upper House and demanded a posthumous recognition with the country’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna.

On a similar note, VCK chief Thol Tirumavalavan also raised his wish of conferring Bharat Ratna for Karunanidhi.
