Puducherry: Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi termed as ‘highly impolite’ the letter written to her by Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, charging her with ‘divulging’ official information on social media.
In her Whatsapp message to reporters, Bedi said, “If it (letter) Narayanasamy had released to media persons is the one written to Lt Governor I wish to inform that the letter was returned in original to Chief Minister as it was considered highly impolite written to a constitutional office.”
“The Chief Minister has been ‘rude’ even earlier in several of his letters. However, it has become a pattern now,” she said adding “I hope the Chief Minister realises that writing such rude letters does not enhance the dignity of a responsible office such as of the stature of a Chief Minister.”
In his letter to Bedi on 10 August, Narayanasamy had stated that “she has no independent right to issue orders to officials without the approval of the Minister concerned.”
He also pointed out that though as an Administrator she had taken oath of office and secrecy, she has been issuing every day all official “secret communications violating the oath of secrecy which was unbecoming of a constitutional authority.”
Reacting to Narayansamy’s letter, the Lt Governor said, “the letter was considered highly impolite written to a constitutional office.”
The Congress government in Puducherry and Bedi have been at loggerheads over several issues, including induction of three nominated MLAs, since she assumed office in 2016.
