At a time when those really involved in idol thefts were expected to brought to book, the name of TVS Motor Company chairman Venu Srinivasan has been included in a FIR filed in connection with the sensational case.
It is an open secret that Srinivasan had spent his own money for the betterment of temples and for the livelihood of the poor and many devotees were wondering whether charging a person like Srinivasan was meant to divert the investigation or help the real culprits.
Moreover, such actions would stop people like Srinivasan to accept posts such as trustees of temples, thus stopping them from involving in noble activities.
Thankfully, leaders including Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, MDMK general secretary Vaiko and CPI State secretary Mutharasan have come to the support of the industrialist and highlighted his good work in their statements.
Stating that TVS Group had provided livelihood to lakhs of people in Tamilnadu, Vaiko has said Srinivasan with his own funds had helped renovate many temples in the State.
While Radhakrishan questioned the motive behind charging a person like Srinivasan, Mutharasan said it was astonishing that Srinivasan, was being charged in an temple idol theft case.
He also sought a probe to know on whose instance Srinivasan’s name had been included in the FIR. The name of Srinivasan should be dropped from the FIR and fair probe should be conducted to find out the real culprits.
