Chennai: “Imparting education is not merely enough to bring out a worthy citizen, but developing a good character is equally important for every institution,” said Justice P Jothimani, former Judge of Madras High Court and former member of the National Green Tribunal.
He said this while delivering the presidential address at the diamond jubilee celebrations of Oxford Matriculation Higher Secondary School, West Mambalam, held at Kamarajar Arangam on 9 August.
He recalled the downfall of the German dictator Hitler who excelled in academics but failed in character. Jothimani also advised the students to treat their parents and teachers as Gods for a good life.
Public Health Centre medical director Dr MK Srinivasan who was present as a special guest, lauded the services of the school for the past 50 years.
Sources said, correspondent G Naagarajan gave away prizes and mementos to the winners of various competitions, while administrative officer N Srinivasan read out the report.
