Lions Club of Central Madras celebrates Charter Nite


Chennai: Lions Club of Central Madras celebrated its 48th Charter Nite here recently, in which the guests and the well-wishers poured encomiums on the services rendered by the members. Not only that, its past district governor and charter member G V Raman, who has 51 years of service in the club, was felicitated on the occasion. He was earlier conferred with Ambassador of Goodwill Award from Lions Clubs International.

Canara Bank Chairman T N Manoharan, who was the chief guest lauded the activities rendered by the club for the past 47 years.

The club’s district governor A Gulam Hussain, district 324A1 immediate past governor Dr K S Babai, past international directors K Dhanabalan, N S Sankar, K G Ramakrishnamurthy, G Ramaswamy, vice governors K Jeganathan and P V Prakash Kumar participated.

Club president R Anbarasan welcomed the gathering and explained about the implementation of projects such as a library and RO plants for schools.

To commemorate the occasion, a fortnight long service activities such as eye screening camps for cataract and diabetic retinopathy in Chennai Corporation schools, awareness and detection camp for diabetes, blood donation camp, dental screening camp at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Chennai – 94, feed-the-hunger project for the visually impaired adults and mentally-retarded students were successfully completed.

The club’s joint secretary R Ramprabhu proposed the vote of thanks.
