Chennai: A man has been arrested for misleading the police with information that a bomb would go off on Chennai-Delhi train.
Police arrested Imran Khan (24), a native of Uttar Pradesh from Naval Hospital Road, Periamet.
He told the police control room last evening that he was travelling on the Velacheri MRTS when he heard two Hindi speaking commuters saying that bombs were placed on two coaches of the Delhi bound train.
While one team of police began combing the Tamilnadu Express after stopping the train at Guntur, police confirmed the alert as a hoax. Another team began a search for the caller. The police traced his phone to a lodge at Naval Hospital Road and arrested him.
