Chennai: Vijay’s latest film Sarkar will go through editing again this morning by about 10.30 and the sanitised version would be out for the matinee show.
According to Tamilnadu Theatre Owners Association joint secretary Sridhar, the controversial scenes will be snipped and the new version will be ready for the matinee or evening show.
The ruling AIADMK had kicked up a fuss about the A R Murugadoss-directed film, condemning scenes that showed people burning the freebies provided by the government, and the antagonist, actress Varalaxmi, being named Komalavalli – which the protesters alleged was the original name of Jayalalithaa.
The protests had led to several theatres cancelling their evening shows across the State.
RAJINI CONDEMNS
Throwing his weight behind Sarkar, Superstar Rajinikanth has said it is not right to protest against a film once it has been certified by the Censor Board. Seeking for a few scenes to be cut and tearing down Sarkar posters is clearly against the law, said Rajinikanth.
