Chennai: The freedom to express one’s opinion is being curtailed in the country, said actor-politician Kamal Haasan.

The Makkal Needhi Maiam party founder was reacting to the controversy surrounding the recent film Seethakathi.

Mediapersons asked Kamal what he thought of some people going to court to get a stay on the naming of the Vijay Sethupathi film as Seethakathi, when he arrived at Chennai airport this morning.

He said he was yet to see the film and cannot comment on it. But he stressed that freedom of expression was being curtailed in the country. He should know what he is talking about as some of his serious films have got caught in this problem – Virumandi, Vishwaroopam, Devar Magan and Devar Magan 2.

When asked for his reaction to the issues confronting Idol Wing special officer Pon Manickavel, who is facing a revolt in his team, Kamal said there would be political pressure in a job like this and that officials should brush it aside and do one’s duty.
