Chennai:Ā With a view to enhance the ease of doing business and achieve the goal of paper-free organisation, EPFO has introduced a slew of services to be availed of electronically.

To avail of these services, employees are required to activate their UAN (Universal Account Number) by providing basic details such as name, date of birth, mobile number, etc., and get the OTP in their mobile number and choose a password, a press release said.

In this process, it is seen that mistakes committed by the employers while seeding/approving these basic details lead to the employees facing difficulties in getting the online services from EPFO.

Therefore, in order to enjoy seamless online services from EPFO, the following care may be taken by employers and employees.

* Employers to ensure that complete and correct details of employees only are furnished to the EPFO and that the inputs such as personal details of the members, bank account number, Aadhaar Number, etc., are thoroughly verified for correctness before seeding / approving the same in respect of every employee.

* Employers should make sure that KYC detail in respect of each employee is seeded with the mobile number of the employee only and that the same mobile number is not seeded for other members / multiple UAN.

* Employees to keep their chosen password to access their UAN as confidential and not share their PF account details including the OTP for any purpose to any other person or over phone or via email to any one for any reason.

In this regard it is informed that EPFO does not demand / seek sensitive personal / financial information including OTP received by the member over telephone or via email.

Employers will be held responsible for any mistakes committed by them while seeding /approving the details leading to fraudulent / incorrect payment of PF and other benefits and will invite action as provided under the law, the release said.
