Chennai: After four-and-a-half-months of investigations, a two-year-old-girl who went missing was traced by the police in Tiruporur this morning.
According to the police, Harini, daughter of a gypsy couple Venkatesan and Kaliamma went missing on 15 September. The family lived nomadic life selling beads.
While they were sleeping near a police station in Maduranthakam, the child went missing. The parents subsequently lodged a police complaint. During investigation, the police initially got information that that the girl was in Kolkatta. However, on reaching the place they found it was not her.
Early morning today, based on a tip-off the police traced the girl in Thiruporur. She was kidnapped by a man identified as Prakash.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Prakash took the child to give it to his friend who was married and childless. Police handed over the child to the parents and arrested him.
