Chennai: Oil & Gas Conservation Awareness Drive – SAKSHAM 2019, was inaugurated at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) by managing director, S N Pandey, recently at the Manali refinery.
The list of activities planned for the awareness drive was detailed by GM (PE), G Sreenivasa Murthy. At the event, DGM (PE), V Sriram read out messages from Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan and Secretary of the Ministry, M M Kutty, a release from the firm stated.
S N Pandey administered the Oil and Gas Conservation Pledge to all the employees and in his address he dwelt at length on the benefits of energy conservation in view of the growing import bill. Pandey stated that energy conservation should become a culture.
Director (Technical), R Srikanthan, spoke on the Fuel and Loss percentage and its monetary implications while director (Finance), Rajeev Ailawadi, elaborated on Earth Overshoot Day (also Ecological Debt Day) and how humanity is using more ecological resources and services than nature can regenerate, the release said.
CPCL CGM (Technical), K Venkatesan, was also present at the event.

Under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Oil and Gas Conservation mass campaign is being observed from 16 January to 15 February.
