Chennai: As the Jacto-Geo-led ‘indefinite strike’ by State government employees’ and teachers associations entered its third consecutive day today, the Tamilnadu government is planning to take stern action against protesting workers.
Revenue Department Commissioner, Sathya Gopal has sent a letter to District Collectors asking them to send details of the employees who kept off from work. In the circular, he has mentioned, “Of the major sufferings, the recent Gaja cyclone relief work saw a bad hit due to this strike. Necessary action would be taken against the workers who continue to take part in the strike.”
The Jacto-Geo members, stressing on their 9-point charter of demands, called an indefinite strike from 22 January, even after the Chief Secretary of Tamilnadu government, Girija Vaidyanathan issued a circular that warned severe action against the protestors.
