Chennai:Ā Even as talks about Lok Sabha election pacts are gaining heat in the State, Deputy Chief Minister and AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam today said his party will lead the alliance in Tamilnadu.
Speaking to mediapersons at Chennai airport, he justified his son O P Raveendranath Kumar filing application to contest in the election. “Anyone can contest, if people accept them,” Panneerselvam said.
Further speaking about the alliance, he said talks are being held with national and regional parties. He took the opportunity to state that the AIADMK was the first party in the State to start the Lok Sabha election work.
Rumours are rife that the AIADMK and BJP will forge an alliance and the combine will also include parties like the DMDK and PMK.
Panneerselvam said he could not appear before the Arumughaswamy Commission (probing the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa) 23 January due to the Global Investors Meet.
“I had informed the commission that I will appear when they summon me later. The next time I am called, I will depose before the commission,” he added. He said he would disclose to the commission all that he knows about the issue.
