Siege at Pondy Raj Nivas.

Chennai: The protest that was launched by Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy against Lt Governor Kiran Bediis showing of sign of petering out.

On the second day today, his five Cabinet colleagues and Congress and DMK MLAs are sitting in protest at the Raj Nivas, the official residence of the Lt Governor.

The siege began yesterday to protest against Bedi, accusing her of stalling welfare and development schemes of the elected government.

Dressed in a black shirt and veshti, Narayanasamy charged the Lt Governor with interfering with the everyday functioning of his government.

For their part, the three nominated BJP MLAs and the party cadres are holding a protest near the Ambedkar Memorial. In fact, BJP Puducherry president Saminathan has gone so far as to submit a memorandum to the DGP to arrest Narayansamy and the others laying siege to Raj Nivas. He argued that the protest could disturb law and order in the Union Territory.

Even as paramilitary forces are being deployed in Puducherry, it is said Kiran Bedi has rushed to New Delhi.
