Chennai: Chennai City Police Commissioner A K Viswanathan inaugurated 770 CCTV cameras installed at various location in Selaiyur, Chitlapakkam and Peerkankaranai on Monday.
Speaking at the event, Viswanathan said Chennai city has more CCTV cameras installed in the entire State.
He said installation of CCTV cameras help in prevention of crimes and identifying criminals. “It also helps in identifying the actual cause for various accidents and incidents,” he added.
Additional Commissioner Maheshkumar Agarwal, South Zone Joint Commissioner C Maheshwari, St Thomas Mount Deputy Commissioner M S Muthuswamy, Assistant Commissioners, Inspectors, Sub Inspectors and Constables and residents from the locality took part in the event held at SDB Mahal in Agaramthen Main Road, Selaiyur.
