Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP unit in Kerala charged the CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan with making anti national remarks on the IAF’s air strikes on Pakistan and asked him to render an apology.
Speaking at a meeting with party functionaries on Tuesday, Balakrishnan had stated that the BJP foreseeing defeat in the coming Lok Sabha elections, was trying to sabotage it by creating a war like situation between India and Pakistan hatred against Muslims. IAF strike in Pakistan was carried out for this purpose he had remarked.
Flaying him, BJP state chief P S Sreedharan Pillai said the Left party’s recognition must be cancelled as his words were anti national. He also demanded that the CPI(M) leader withdraw his statement and apology otherwise the BJP would launch state-wide protests against him.
He blamed that the CPIM had taken a similar anti-national stand during the freedom struggle too and asked Balakrishnan not to demoralise the army for the sake of support from the minorities.
However, yesterday, Balakrishnan issued a statement hailing the Indian Air Force’s action and congratulated the force for giving a befitting reply to the terrorists and that the entire nation should stand unitedly behind the armed forces. He further alleged that previous actions of the Modi government does not give any hope of curbing terrorism. And said the BJP was using the issue for political gains and urged the people to be cautious against such moves.
Indian Air Force on Tuesday attacked terror bases in Pakistan and eliminated around 350 militants, and high tension continued in the Indo-Pakistan border.
