DSP’s tribute to his mentor Mandolin U Shrinivas

Music director Devi Sri Prasad has come out a fusion of Hanuman Chalisa for his Guru Mandolin U Shrinivas to commemorate the legendary Mandolin exponent’s 50th birth anniversary.

This fusion interpretation of the popular bhajan has been named ‘Jai Bajranga Bhali.’ Incidentally, Mandolin U Shrinivas has always been an ardent devotee of Lord Hanuman and had named his residence as Maruthi Nilayam.

Renowned Playback Singer Shankar Mahadevan has crooned this energetic track along with DSP. Other veterans featured are Ghatam maestro and Grammy Award winner Vikku Vinayakram, drummer Sivamani, kanjira player Selvaganesh and the younger brother of Shrinivas, the mandolin artiste U Rajesh.

This single, performed on Thursday at The Music Academy, will be played in Singapore on 2 March at The Esplanade Auditorium.
