The restoration work of a local pond at Bharaniputhur near Porur has kick-started. The workers are involved in deepening and bund strengthening works under 100-days employment scheme.
During summer, this pond is considered one of the main water resources as excess water from Porur Lake is drained into it. As there was no enough rainfall this year, the pond remains dry now.
However, the restoration work has now started to save excess water from Porur Lake.
It is also notable that the restoration works are going on full-fledge mode at Ramapuram lake. Residents hope proper restoration and good rainfall will lead to stable maintenance of ground water in the locality.
