Hyderabad: Amidst speculation that Congress MLA and former minister P Sabita Indra Reddy would quit and join TRS, tribal woman MLA from Yellandu constituency Haripriya Banoth is also likely to jump ship and join the ruling party.
In a press statement, Haripriya said, “I am convinced that if I have to do justice to my constituents and develop my constituency, I should work with the Chief Minister. Under these circumstances, I discussed all options with my followers and leaders in the constituency and came to the decision to join the TRS.”
If required, she was willing to quit the Congress and resign as an MLA and face re-election on a TRS party ticket, she further stated yesterday.
MLC election is scheduled for 12 March and as a major set back to Congress in Telangana, MLAs jumping ship continued unabated. Three Congress MLAs Rega Kantha Rao, Atram Sakku and Chirumarti Lingaiah have already announced their decision to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi led by Chandrasekhar Rao.
The Congress has fielded one candidate in the 12 March election to fill five vacancies in the Council.
