Rail Nagar in Chennai to install rooftop solar panels

The Rail Nagar Flat Owners’ Association has proposed to install rooftop solar panels at a cost of Rs 10 lakh with the money saved through the organisation till December 2018.

At the association’s 49th general body meeting held recently, its president P M Ganapathy Subramanyam explained to the members that as the physical financial savings up to December 2018 was about Rs 10 lakh and it was proposed to install solar panels on the terrace of G and F blocks and connect them to the common water pumping meters.

The president added that the proposed installation of solar panels was the idea of secretary, S Lakshmi Narayanan, and the entire credit for this should go to him. The members accepted the proposal and suggested a committee be formed to study the project report.

Lifts and hike
Lakshmi Narayanan proposed a new budget for 2019-20 and explained that on an overall basis there will be no increase in the general annual maintenance charges. For the current year, the association has proposed an amount of Rs 200 per annum increase (from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200) only for Rohini Flats blocks with lifts. This was because of the increase in the license fee for the lifts that has been raised to Rs 5,000 for 3 years from the present fee of Rs 500 per year.

Stray Dogs Menace
The Rail Nagar Association has appealed to authorities in the Greater Chennai Corporation to take proper action for taking away stray dogs roaming all over Rail Nagar and posing a threat to the residents. The Secretary also appealed to the residents to stop feeding the stray dogs.
