Bengaluru: Amidst the on going I-T raids at several political leaders’ residences in Karnataka, TheĀ BJP yesterday asked the Chief Minister Kumaraswamy to step down from his post.
They alleged that the CM had informed the public about the raids even before it began and that his action was against theĀ oath of secrecy he had taken.
Speaking at a press conference, BJP spokesperson Go Madhusudan flayed the chief minister.Ā “You have no authority to continue (as the chief minister). You must resign. How can you put obstacles on a secret operation by the income tax department, Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate? Your conduct is against the Constitution and the federal system of the country,” he stated.
He also sought to know when did “corrupt contractors” become JD(S) relatives when the
Madhusudan said that theĀ I-T department’s statement had made it clear that a few bureaucrats, contractors and builders were among those raided. He asked the CM to give an account of the money that he had stashed with these contractors.
Many political leaders residences across Bengaluru,Ā Ramanagara,Ā Kanakapura,Ā Mandya,Ā Mysuru, Hassan andĀ Shivamogga were targeted by theĀ Income Tax officials.
Following this, the CM staged a protest in front of the I-T department on Thursday. It is to be noted that it is first such protest by the State chief minister in the recent past.
