Chennai sabhas gear up to celebrate Rama Navami fest


The festival of Sri Rama Navami will be celebrated widely in the neighbourhood at various sabhas. Sri Ram Samaj inaugurated its 66th Sri Rama Navami festival on 4 April at 5 pm in Ayodhya Mandapam, West Mambalam.

A press release said, Apollo Hospitals, founder chairman, Dr Prathap C Reddy was the chief guest on the occasion. Indian Academy of Neurology, president Dr AV Srinivasan and NAC Jewellers, managing director, N Anantha Padmanabhan, were the guests of honour. Ram Samaj will organise month-long programmes during the festival and entry is free for the public.

Also, in T Nagar, Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha (Vani Mahal), GN Chetty Road has begun celebrating the festival from 3 and it will go on till 14 April in its premises.

A press release said, the festival is dedicated in the memory of PA Ramakrishnan and the sabha will honour scholar B Sundarakumar with Pravachana Sudha Vani award.

Vocal concerts by TV Ramprasadh, Dr S Sowmy, TM Krishna were held on 3, 4 and 5 April, respectively, and from 6 to 14 April, upanyasam on ‘Srimad Upanyasam’ by scholar U Ve Kalyanapuram Aravamudhachariar Swamy will be held.
