Chennai: Unidentified persons hurled a petrol bomb at the residence of a DMK functionary at T P Chathram, Kilpauk, this morning.
According to sources, the incident took place at 6 am at the house of DMK’s Anna Nagar zonal secretary, Paramasivam (45).
His four-wheeler which was parked outside his house was damaged in the attack. Police who checked the CCTV footage at the spot said that six persons on two bikes came to his house and hurled a bottle of petrol after setting fire to it. Seeing the fire spreading, people nearby rushed to douse it. A fire and rescue vehicle from Kilpauk was pressed into service to bring the situation under control.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajendran, Assistant Commissioner Jagadeesh and Inspector Vinayakam visited the spot. A case has been registered and police are searching for the six persons.
