AIADMK MLA Venkatachalam resigns from post

Coimbatore: Former minister in the Jayalalithaa cabinet and AIADMK Amma Peravai deputy secretary, Thoppu Venkatachalam Monda resigned from his post citing personal reasons.

He met Chief Minister K Palanisamy yesterday evening at his residence in Salem and submitted his resignation.

Speaking about his sudden decision, Venkatachalam said, “I resigned from the post only due to personal reasons and will continue to be a primary and loyal member of AIADMK,”

He is an MLA representing Perundurai in Erode District. When asked whether his resignation was due to allegations that he has recently been supporting AMMK leader T T V Dhinakaran and his fractured relationship with a state minister, Venkatachalam declined to comment.
