TN doctors protest over improper implementation of DACP


Chennai: Doctors across Tamilnadu today staged protests over the alleged improper implementation of Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP), increasing the total number of practitioners and reservation.

Following this, Tamilnadu Health and Family Welfare Minister, C Vijayabaskar, told a news channel today, that the demands are being considered.

It is learnt that doctors started a demonstration today at 7.30 am and have decided to continue it till tomorrow 7.30 am. In Chennai, protest happened at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and several other places.

Speaking about the strike, Tamilnadu Government Doctors’ Association State secretary, Dr P Balakrishnan said, “According to GO 354, the review to hike the wages and promotion is done once in five years. However, the government failed to review it in October 2017 and it has been delayed by two years now. We want it to be conducted at the earliest.”

The doctors on protest wanted the number of practitioners to be increased on par with the volume of patients they cater to.

BJP State President, Tamilisai Soundararajan and DMK president M K Stalin have requested the government doctors to withdraw the strike as it affects the underprivileged community and further noted that the government and the protesters should discuss and find a solution.
