Chennai:Ā Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today said all the current restrictions imposed under Sec 144 and under Disaster Management Act, 2005 would continue till 30 April.
In view of the extension of the lockdown, the Chief Minister announced free ration comprising one kg each of sugar, toor dhal and cooking oil and usual quota of rice all rice cardholders for the month of May.
He also announced an assistance of Rs 1,000 each for the second time to the families of construction workers and all registered unorganised sector workers. The first assistance of Rs 1,000 was given to them during the first phase of lockdown announced from 24 to 31 March, which was subsequently extended till 14 April .
Apart from free provision of 15 kg rice, one kg each of toor dhal and cooking oil to migrant workers, Palaniswami said based on the requests from several sections, bakeries will continue to function from 0600 hrs to 1300 hrs and the earlier restrictions for hotels and restaurants–allowing parcels only–would also
continue.
He also announced that the government has made arrangements with the Telemedicine Society of India to enable the people of Chennai to get their doubts clarified on coronavirus-related disease with medical experts.
