Chennai: With the All India Council for Technical Education expressing disappointment over Tamilnadu’s decision to declare pass for arrear candidates, it is said the State government is holding high level discussions on how to handle the issue.
In a strongly-worded emai to Anna University Vice-Chancellor M K Surappa, AICTE Chairman Anil Sahasrabuddhe threatened to strip the varsity’s approval, it is learnt.
The AICTE chief said in this mail that he found it surprising that final year students, who had failed in various courses in the earlier semesters, are being passed without conducting examinations.
“This is not acceptable to award marks without conducting any examination and graduating the students. Such students will not be recognised by industry or by other universities for higher education,” he said, contents of which were leaked on social media.
The Chairman also discussed the issue with Tamilnadu Chief Secretary, K Shanmugham, it is said.
