New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government today submitted a compliance affidavit to the Supreme Court over the alleged gang-rape and death of a young dalit woman in Hathras last month.
It said the victim’s family had been given three-layer security and stressed the state government was committed to giving “full security” to the victim’s family.
‘Eight CCTV cameras have been installed outside her home to keep a watch and the police has ensured that there is no intrusion of privacy of the family,’ the affidavit said.
The compliance affidavit was filed as the Supreme Court is hearing pleas seeking transfer of the Hathras case out of Uttar Pradesh. Last week, the Uttar Pradesh government had filed an affidavit in the case, seeking a court-monitored CBI probe.
The affidavit defended the government’s controversial decision to cremate the victim late at night.
