Chennai: The Madras High Court today warned actor Rajinikanth over a petition filed on behalf of him to waive off property tax for his Sri Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam.
It was stated in the petition that a sum of Rs 6.5 lakh as property tax levied by the Corporation on the property be waived as there were no weddings held in the Mandapam due to coronavirus. Rajini’s counsel also stated that all bookings after 24 March were cancelled and money returned.
However, after hearing the petition the Judge warned the counsel of wasting their time by filing such a petition. The Judge also asked them to withdraw petition stating that it was uncalled for.
Following which, Rajinikanth’s counsel chose to withdraw the same.
