Chennai: A total of 61 Sub-Inspectors (SIs) and 166 constables were newly inducted into the Railway Protection Force, Southern Railway and more would be inducted in June-July next year after training.
A Southern Railway release here said the 61 SIs included 42 men and 19 women. Of the 166 constables, 101 were men and 65 were women.
It is notable that a large number of women have been inducted into the Force this time keeping in mind the safety and security of women and children travelling by trains.
The newly recruited cops braved all odds during the Covid-19 pandemic and successfully completed their initial Training in various training centres.
They underwent rigorous indoor and outdoor training to face the upcoming challenges in Railways, viz security of Railway Property, Railway Passengers and Passenger Area.
Apart from them, 14 SIs–ten men and four women–and 259 women and 137 men constable recruits were also undergoing training pan India and they were likely to be inducted into the Force during June-July 2021.
The induction of new SIs and constables will enhance smooth operation of freight as well as passenger trains across all Railway network by providing security to both, Railway property and the passengers.
