Chennai: Out of the around two lakh online applications received by ISRO for a space contest announced by it for school students, only 500 were shortlisted.
Class 10 student Mahalakshmi and her sister and Yashika, both sudents of Venus group of schools in Chidambaram, were among them.
Mahalakshmi, who submitted an essay titled “Space environment and its challenges”, scored 11th rank out of the 500 applications. Yashika, who took part in the contest for class four and five sudents, presented a model missile.
They were appreciated by the school’s corresspondent S Kumar and principal S Rubiyal Rani.
