Chennai: Though the Tamilnadu government has allowed schools, colleges, theatres and multiplexes to resume operations, full-fledged functioning is not likely as they are getting ready for staggered reopening.
While many parents express fear over sending their wards to schools amid the Covid-19 pandemic situation, schools have asked the government to release details of omitted lessons for state board students.
As far as colleges are concerned, they have said the campuses should reopen with local students before opening to the hostel students.
Coming to cinema halls, Archana Kalpathi, CEO of AGS Cinemas, said, “we will be starting on November 10 to test the protocol. Looking at the way restaurants and other places have bounced back, theatres will also see patrons come back if we give them comfort and safety. If there is no new content, we will release movies that were running before Covid-19 broke out.”
On Saturday, the Tamilnadu government extended the lockdown across the State till 30 November. However, it had also provided a set of relaxations, including allowing higher secondary schools and education institutions to resume physical classes.
In a statement, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said sub-urban trains and movie theatres too can function by following Covid-19 safety protocols.
